What is the purpose of this service?
This service is provided by MonkeyMove.com to enable members of the public to search for title registers, title plans and other associated documents stored by The Land Registry.
Is all land registered?
No. It is estimated that about 82% of all potential titles to property in England and Wales are registered. This percentage is steadily increasing. When certain transactions are made, such as a sale, application must be made to register the property otherwise the owner will not have full legal title to it. Within the next ten years the Land Registry plan to register all property in England and Wales.
Can I use the copies I print when I sell my house?
No. Your solicitor or licensed conveyancer (should you choose to use one) will require ‘official copies’ of the title register and title plan. You can obtain an official copy of these documents by post directly from the Land Registry by completing form OC1 (for title register or plan) or OC2 (for any other document).
How do I access documents for properties in Scotland and Wales?
This service does not currently enable you to obtain documents for properties in Scotland and Northern Ireland. We recommend you search on the respective websites for further information.
How do I download documents on this service?
You can search for a property with a postcode and house number/name. When you submit the search the system will present to you the documents available for download. You can select which documents you wish to download and proceed to the payment screen to place an order.
What do I need to use this service?
All you need to use this service is the property number/name and postcode to perform your search, a credit or debit card to purchase documents and Adobe Acrobat reader to view the documents.
How long do I have to wait to receive the documents?
It takes approximately 2-3 working hours to source the documents you have ordered. When we have obtained the documents we will email them directly to you.
How can I get an explanation of the documents available on this service?
Please refer to our online glossary for help on what information each document provides. You can also download an examples of the title register and title plan here.
At what times is this service available?
The service is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. However we only source documents during working hours therefore any orders placed outside of this time will not be received until the next following working day.
